We bought this so our chunky, arthritic cat could get onto the bed without clawing his way up the mattress. It's unobtrusive and sturdy, and most important, after a couple preliminary sniffs, he's using it like a champ.

We use the pet steps for our dachshund at our bed. He jumps on our bed but could not jump down, or I did not want to encourage him jumping. He is only 1 year old but I had another Dachshund that had back surgery and do not ever want to go through that again.
The steps are a little narrow but they do not take up a lot of space in our bedroom. Do your measurment homework.
