Boxer Dog Training – Getting Your Dog Trained the Right Way

Monday, December 8, 2008 | Printer Friendly Printer Friendly

Boxer dog training is best done while your dog is still in puppy stage. A new boxer puppy is much easier to train than an older dog because it has not had time to develop bad habits. If you need to train an older boxer dog, you may find it very difficult because you need to break any habits as well as form new ones. It is not impossible, however, because the boxer is a very intelligent creature. You can see in his eyes his character and personality, and if you work with him you will be able to make changes.

With boxer dog training, you can see results show up very quickly when you are training a new puppy. You need to be kind and gentle to your new puppy so that it will develop a respect for you that will last throughout the training. The puppy will be very adorable and do very cute things while you are trying to train him, and you need to keep firm with him and let him know that training time is different from playtime. Once you do this a few times with your new puppy, he will adapt and understand that training time needs to be done differently.

Boxer puppies are very playful and you need to keep them busy so that they don't get into any destruction. If you do not provide them with things to chew on, he will end up chewing on your furniture or your fingers. When you work with the dog and understand that he really does need to chew because he is getting new teeth, then you can be more understanding as to why he is doing the things he is doing, and give him training and guidance. Having a new puppy is a fun as well as challenging experience and boxer dog training sets you up to having an obedient loving dog in the future.

You can get more information about boxer dog training online. You need to visit a site to get all the information you can about the boxer dog breed so that you can be prepared for the training once you bring your new puppy home. Understanding your puppy is the first thing you need to do so that you will have some sort of idea of what you can expect when you begin training the dog. Go to a web site such as Jason Rusch's www.boxerdogessentials.com that can give you full information about boxer dog training, and you will see that understanding is the first step towards a wonderful relationship with your boxer.
